Rheem 16

The Rheem 16 delivers 16 litres per minute at a 25°C temperature rise and is designed for households of 2-3 people with up to two bathrooms. It will comfortably supply one shower and a basin tap or dishwasher running at the same time. For 1.5-bathroom homes or townhouses where demand is moderate, the Rheem 16 is one of Ember’s most popular recommendations. It sits in the sweet spot between the smaller 12L model and the larger 20L model in terms of both capacity and price.

The Rheem 16 carries a 12-year heat exchanger warranty and 3 years parts and labour on other components for domestic installations. The Bosch 16P carries a 10-year heat exchanger warranty and 2 years parts and labour. The Rheem warranty is meaningfully stronger on both fronts. Additionally, all Rheem products installed by Ember from August 2022 onwards receive a 2-year extended warranty from Ember on top of the standard Rheem terms. In total, the Rheem 16 offers a more comprehensive warranty package than any of the Bosch models in Ember’s range at a comparable price point.

Yes. Unlike the Bosch pilot and HydroPower models, the Rheem Metro continuous flow range uses electronic ignition powered by a 240V power point or, in some models, D-cell batteries. For most Perth homes this is not an issue as a power point is typically available near the external hot water location. If no power point exists at the proposed installation point, Ember can arrange to have one installed as part of the job, or we can discuss alternative models that do not require power.

Rheem Q Factor is a temperature control feature built into the Rheem Metro continuous flow range that is designed to deliver hot water more consistently and quickly — particularly at start-up when the pipes are still cold. It reduces the amount of cool water that is delivered before the hot water arrives, which in practice means less water wastage while waiting for the temperature to stabilise. The Rheem 16 includes Q Factor technology as standard, contributing to its 6-star energy rating.

Yes. Rheem produces both a 50°C preset model and a 60°C preset model of the Rheem 16. The 50°C model (876A16) is the standard choice for most homes, as 50°C is the recommended maximum delivery temperature for bathroom outlets under Australian Standard AS 3500. The 60°C model (874A16) is suitable for properties where hotter water is needed at kitchen or laundry outlets, and where a tempering valve is fitted to reduce the temperature to 50°C before it reaches bathroom taps. Ember’s team will confirm which preset is appropriate for your installation during the booking process.

The price is all-inclusive for a standard like-for-like replacement: the Rheem 16 unit, installation labour, connection to your existing gas and water lines, a Certificate of Compliance for the gas installation, and free removal and disposal of your old system. There is no call-out fee. If your installation requires additional pipework, valve upgrades, or non-standard access, Ember’s technician will advise you before any extra work is carried out.
