Common Residential Plumbing Emergencies
When something goes wrong at home with the water, it makes for a plumbing emergency! Don’t wait! If you have any of these problems, call us immediately!
No Hot Water
Eeeek! You turn on the shower and get blasted with cold water! Usually, a lack of hot water is a problem with the water heater, the electricity or gas, or a burst pipe. No matter the cause, cold water coming out of the hot water tap is definitely a plumbing emergency!
A Puddle or Drip from the Water Heater
Look under and around your water heater. If you see a puddle or drips, or hear dripping, something’s wrong. A leaky water heater certainly wastes water, but it also foretells a looming disaster. You might have just a leaky valve, which can be repaired. But if your water heater is rusty or over 10 years old, it’s time to replace it so you don’t end up with all that water flooding the house.
Leaking or Broken Pipes
Temperature changes cause pipes to expand and contract, which may cause cracking. Keep an eye on your aging pipes for any signs of leaks. A small leak today could be an emergency tomorrow because water from the pipe can pour out, causing a lot of damage very quickly. If you see wet spots on the wall, call us right away!
Issues with the Sewer System
When a sewer system backs up, it’s a huge plumbing emergency! Sewage can back up into drains in every room in the house. This is a serious health issue and incredibly unpleasant. Consider it a plumbing emergency if you smell sewer odours in your drains, if several drains clog at the same time, or if the toilets start to gurgle.
Residential plumbing emergencies don’t happen every day for homeowners, but that’s what we do.
